Shruti Haasan says she would marry Tamannaah Bhatia if she were a man: ‘She is such a good girl’ | bollywood

While she had worked as a child artiste in father Kamal Haasan’s film Hey Ram, Shruti Haasan made her debut as a leading lady in Luck in 2009, which also starred Imran Khan and Sanjay Dutt. The film was a box office disaster and was panned by critics. Shruti has now admitted it was a wrong decision. Speaking on the chat show Famously Filmfare Tamil, she also revealed she would like to date Tamannah Bhatia if she were a man.

Asked to name someone she would like to ask for a date if she were a man, Shruti said, “If I were a guy, who would I take out on a date, Tamannaah! Actually, if I were a man, I would marry Tammy. She is such a good girl, I won’t let her go easily.”

Shruti said, “My first movie, I don’t know whether it was a right decision or a wrong decision. Actually why I see that as a wrong decision is because I was not ready at that time.”

An adaptation of 2001 Spanish thriller film, Intacto, Luck opened to a decent collection of Rs 3.17 crore and managed a meagre Rs 28.83 crore of lifetime collection.

“I was not aware of the depth and emotion and pressure of cinema. I was in a band and then suddenly I landed up here from the music world. Only after the movie was over, I realised its value. It was a learning process but ultimately it has been my own decision. So whether it is a failure or success, I am able to understand it for myself. Having said that, they have been always supportive from the beginning. I had my parent’s support,” she added.

She also credited her parents for her good looks. “Both (Sarika and Kamal) have looks that can kill and both of them have the same combination. I respect my father a lot; the way he does things, both personally and professionally. Seriously, I have a lot of respect for his achievements — not because he is my father, but because his style of doing everything is very different. Other than that, I can talk to him casually, I can openly share what I have in my mind. I would say that he is a kind of a very liberal father.”

Nothing is ever enough for Salman Khan, he always stresses on doing better, says Notebook actor Zaheer Iqbal | bollywood

Actor Zaheer Iqbal is all set to make his Bollywood debut with the Salman Khan production, Notebook. The actor will be seen opposite another debutant, Pranutan Bahl, daughter of actor Mohnish Bahl and granddaughter of late legendary actor Nutan. Zaheer is the son of Salman’s childhood friend and was handpicked by him for the film. However, the actor considers himself an outsider and has trained for six years for the role.

In an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times, the newcomer spoke about Salman, his contribution in polishing him as an actor and much more. Excerpts:

How does it feel to make a debut under Salman Khan’s production?

It’s a dream come true to be launched by Salman Khan and my confidence comes from the fact that he saw something in me. It’s a great feeling and I am very excited.

What advice did he give you?

He advised me on a lot of things but the most important was what he said before the shooting began. He told me not to worry about a hundred things going on around us. I am a person who goes and tries to solve a problem if something occurs on the set. He told me, “Don’t worry about other people and what they are supposed to do, you just concentrate on your performance, others will take care of everything else.”

How the film is a different love story?

Bhai had said very well that one falls in love with seerat (inner personality) and not surat in this film. Usually everyone falls in love with the person that you are and think that person is the most beautiful person in the world because you love them. So this film is about — when you like someone’s seerat so much, you eventually start liking a person’s surat.

You have worked a lot on your fitness, how important it was for the role?

Bhai has trained me for the last six years and has been saying, “Ï am not training you for just one film, I am going to train you for all the films you are going to do in your career.”

So I have learnt dance, gymnastics, different forms of dancing and acting. This film did not require any body shots, I was just supposed to be fit. There were no prerequisites for the role. We were shooting in Kashmir and therefore, the clothing was layered and body shots weren’t required.

Pranutan is a star kid and you have Salman’s reference. How helpful it is to not be a complete outsider?

I consider myself an outsider. I don’t come from a film background. He and my father have been friends since they were kids. I didn’t use to meet him regularly. We used to meet once or twice in a year when I used to ask my dad to take me to meet him at a studio. When he saw me dancing after four or five years, he told me, “you should be an actor in front of the camera.” I don’t consider myself an industry kid.

Did you face any challenges and had to work on them while shooting for the film?

Everything was a challenge, to outdo ourselves every day is a challenge. Nothing is ever enough for Bhai. He always says, if you dance well, you can always do better.

What do you think about nepotism?

When you have dreamt of acting all you life, you already feel connected to the industry and have a lot of knowledge about it and its a part of life. So why not go ahead and make the most of it. If you have connections in the industry, you probably meet a few people. Those days are gone when people will cast someone only because he is a star kid. Everyone wants an actor who can act. There are lots of people who have made big in the industry without any connections. Its not that people who are not star kids are not getting any opportunity.

Does the film have any similarity with Ryan Gosling’s Hollywood film Notebook.

A notebook plays a very important character in this film. This has nothing to do with the Hollywood film by the same name.

When Aamir Khan turned up for mahurat shot of Shah Rukh Khan’s Swades. See pic | bollywood

Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji has come a long way from being an assistant director on Shah Rukh Khan’s hit 2004 film, Swades. The director, who has multiple hits under his belt and is awaiting the release of his dream project Brahmastra now, shared a throwback picture from the mahurat of Swades on his Instagram account.

Both Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao had attended the mahurat of the film and can be seen holding the clapperboard in the picture. The actor can be seen in his Mangal Pandey look, which released about six months after Swades.

Ayan wrote along with the picture, “Swades. At the age of 19, I started my journey as an assistant director under Ashutosh Gowariker, my brother-in-law and first mentor. With Ashuda, I really understood the passion and sacrifice that each film takes, and how to devote oneself completely to the journey of the movie one is making… I gave clap for each shot on this movie, and in return, took from it, so much learning, such special relationships and many many memories… #startingpoint #memorylane #everythingisconnected.”

Ayan’s sister Sunita Gowariker had made her debut in production with Swades. She reacted to Ayan Mukerji’s post, “It was a first for both of us @ayan_mukerji yours as an DA and mine as a Producer! And our respective journey still goes on. You were so clever even then and soooooo hard working. So proud to have you as my brother! Gods best gift! Love you so much.”

Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, Swades had won worldwide critical acclaim for the treatment of the subject, which revolved around Shah Rukh’s character of a NASA employee who comes home and works for the upliftment of his village. Gayatri Joshi had played the female lead in the film.

Ayan is now gearing up for the release of Brahmastra – the first in a fantasy trilogy. It also stars Amitabh Bachchan in a prominent role. The film is scheduled to release ahead of Christmas on December 20 this year. The logo of the film was unveiled in a unique manner with the help of 150 drones during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
